Mindfulness & ACT
The techniques I use in therapy are known as mindfulness-based and are called Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They hold the premise that the way you think influences how you feel and behave.
These methods help you become more aware of what is happening in your mind and body when you’re feeling anxious and how you react to these thoughts and feelings.
The process involves practicing staying in the present moment without judgment. With increased awareness, you’re able to have more control to calm your mind.
Mindfulness also enables you to identify your core values better and live in alignment with them, bringing you more contentment and fulfillment in your life.
As your therapist, I’ll assist you in making committed action steps so that you can achieve the goals that fit your values. You can then live the life you want to live and be the person you want to be.
Mindfulness and ACT are key evidence-based therapy methods used by many therapists and are shown to help reduce stress and anxiety.
They are also tools that can be used outside of therapy, allowing you to have control over your worries and fears.
If you think we’re a good fit to work together, contact me, and we’ll set up a 15-minute call where you can tell me your concerns, and I’ll answer any questions you may have.
