My Therapy Approach in Helping You Overcome Anxiety

My Counselling Style

Sometimes, the best solution for getting relief from anxiety is to get help from a supportive and skilled therapist who knows how to guide you towards a calmer and more fulfilling life.

Your role in therapy is to be a brave explorer. As your therapist, my role is to be your first mate as I guide and support you towards overcoming stress, worry and fear.

I am gentle, while at the same time, I am frank and honest so that I can support you in making the changes that will enable you to reduce or free yourself from anxiety.

On days where you feel like giving up, my encouragement will keep you moving towards your goals because I know you CAN turn your life around.

I'll help you build your confidence and assist you in engaging in better self-care practices and to be more graceful with yourself.

When you have greater self-compassion, you'll be better able to accept your "mistakes" and be more self-forgiving. Once you have more acceptance and love for yourself, growth will occur much more quickly.

Therapy Approaches

I use a strengths-based approach. Instead of focusing on what you perceive to be your shortfalls, we'll work to build on the positive attributes you have already, even if you have trouble acknowledging them right now.

I'll help you combat destructive thinking and tolerate distressing emotions. Eventually, you'll be able to replace some or all of these negative emotions with more positive ones.

I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, issues with life balance, loss, or any other issue, I will help you recognize underlying problems, fully realize your strengths and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to see things a different, healthier way.

My practice specializes in treating individuals using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness based tools.

Counseling for Anxiety

Is anxiety taking over your life? Does it feel like you can’t control it no matter how hard you try? Have you already tried therapy but found it ineffective? If this sounds like you, I’m confident I can help. My practice offers the most effective forms of treatment, to get the relief from anxiety that you deserve. When it comes to treating anxiety disorders, research shows that therapy is usually the most effective option. That’s because anxiety therapy – as opposed to anxiety medication – treats more than just symptoms to the problem.

Life Transitions

Has your life been touched by a major event such as a death, divorce, or layoffs at work? Are you having a hard time moving through and past the emotional turmoil? Do you feel completely stuck and like you need guidance getting back on track?

There’s no denying that life often presents us with our fair share of challenges, usually in the form of sudden change. These life transitions, even the positive ones, can throw us into a tailspin and leave us feeling stressed, confused, and vulnerable. But with the right tools and mindset, you have the power to not only overcome any adversity but also transform into a more authentic and confident version of yourself.

Mindfulness & ACT

The techniques I use in therapy are known as mindfulness-based and are called Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They hold the premise that the way you think influences how you feel and behave.

These methods help you become more aware of what is happening in your mind and body when you’re feeling anxious and how you react to these thoughts and feelings.

Telehealth

Telehealth allows us to provide counseling and therapy to our clients via live video conferencing. This can be done anywhere you have a computer or smartphone.

Our telehealth solution allows you to schedule an appointment directly online and have the entire therapy session take place digitally. While you don’t need a video camera, we do recommend you use one. To learn more and get started with virtual therapy, please contact us today.

Therapy for Self-Esteem

Do you suffer from anxiety or depression? Do you often feel awkward and self-conscious in social settings? Are you constantly comparing yourself to others and finding you never measure up?

Self-esteem is a concept that speaks to how we feel about ourselves. When one has high self-esteem, they feel confident, centered, and worthy of love. People with low self-esteem often feel shame and self-doubt. They often feel critical of themselves and are unworthy of love or praise.
